Anger Management

We are all familiar with anger, and we’ve all felt it, whether as a brief moment of irritation or as all-out rage.  Anger is a completely normal, and usually healthy, human emotion that all people experience but can be expressed in a variety of different ways.  Anger and its expression in our lives can sometimes be a significant problem.  If not our own anger, then its expression by someone else can at times cause us difficulty.

The goal of anger management is to learn how to effectively reduce the feelings and physiological arousal that anger causes and appropriately express one’s feelings of anger.  Some of the essential ingredients to effective anger management include understanding anger, developing an awareness and acceptance of your own anger, recognizing your anger patterns, learning to express your anger appropriately, developing good communication skills, and respecting yourself and others.  Effective anger management is essential to your physical and emotional health and to having healthy and productive relationships.
